Itinerary of Balthali Village Trek

01
Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu

Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu

You’ll get vistas of the valley, the Himalaya, and the terraced fields below as you soar into Kathmandu. After clearing customs, a representative will be there to welcome you outside the airport and help you navigate the initially disorienting tiny, winding streets of Kathmandu to your accommodation.

After you’ve settled in, go exploring in the city. The Kathmandu Durbar Square is an excellent site to start your trip because it is surrounded by tiny stores, historic temples, and neighborhood eateries. Swayambhunath, the white stupa standing above the valley, is the ideal location to watch the sun set over the valley if you want to get some exercise.

In the evening, the tourist hub of Thamel is a good place to grab your first meal, with a variety of restaurants to chose from offering both Western and local Nepali dishes.

02
Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to JarsingPauwa, Trek to Nagarkot

Meet your trekking guide in Kathmandu after breakfast, then ride in a Jeep to the Kathmandu Valley’s edge. After that, proceed to JarsingPauwa to start your hike along the Kathmandu Valley rim. Explore both popular and obscure locations while taking in their breathtaking mountain views.

Trek to Nagarkot at night. This mountain retreat town, perched on the rim of the Kathmandu Valley, provides views of the Himalaya to the north and is surrounded by a vast expanse of rural vistas, including terraced fields and farmhouses.

Trekking time: 2 hours

03
Day 3: Trek from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel

Before packing your luggage and leaving along the ridgeline southeast of Nagarkot, have breakfast while taking in the scenery. Today, you’ll travel through communal woods and open spaces with small settlements that depend on the forest for their daily needs in addition to farming and raising cattle. This is a fantastic opportunity to interact with villagers and learn about their daily lives. It differs greatly from Kathmandu, which is physically close yet has a completely distinct way of life.

Trekking time: 7 hours

04
Day 4: Trek from Dhulikhel to Namo Buddha

You’ll take a short, leisurely climb to Namo Buddha this morning. 40 kilometers (25 miles) outside of Kathmandu’s bustle is where you’ll find Namo Buddha. On the mountaintop of Panauti in the Kavre District, the pilgrimage center for Buddhists is where the tour takes you. The ThranguTashiYangtse monastery, where young monks learn, is the highlight of your trip to Namo Buddha.

Trekking time: 3-4 hours (11 km)

05
Day 5: Trek from Namo Buddha to Khopasi, Drive to Kathmandu

Take the morning to learn Tamang Buddhist culture in comparison to Tibetan Buddhism after breakfast in a lovely setting overlooking the mountains. You may view Namo Buddha’s tiny stupa by taking a quick trek down the hillside. This stupa honors Siddhartha Gautam’s selfless deed of giving his body to a ravenous tigress, an act that is claimed to have helped him reach enlightenment and, ultimately, Buddha-hood. Before a short ascent to the recently constructed Tibetan Buddhist monastery perched on the summit above the Stupa, learn about the location’s significance and its place in the local Tamang culture.

After this, you will go through orchards and fields to the peaceful village of Balthali while eating a picnic lunch along the way. You will next proceed to the settlement of Khopasi. Even though it’s a hard trek back down into the town once you’ve left your bag in the hotel, it’s worth the effort because here we once again have breathtaking views of the mountains and can enjoy the charm of village life.

After exploring around Khopasi and your last panoramic views of the Himalaya, you can exchange your trekking boots for the four wheels of a car as you head back into Kathmandu.

Walking time: 5 hours

06
Day 6: Depart Kathmandu

It’s time to bid Nepal adieu. Take advantage of your last few hours in Kathmandu by eating breakfast in a café, taking one more stroll past the temples and down the winding lanes, and buying one last souvenir. To get you to the airport for your journey back home, a driver will be waiting for you at your hotel. It is ideal to arrive at the airport at least two hours before takeoff.
