Day 1: Arrive in Pokhara, Boat across Lake Phewa, Trek to Bumdi
Start the journey off in style with a quick, panoramic boat ride over the stunning Phewa Lake when you get to Pokhara. You will start your first day of trekking from this point onward, via paths through the jungle to get to the World Peace Pagoda. One of more than 80 Peace Pagodas constructed in an effort to bring people from all over the world together and advance world peace is this Buddhist stupa (shrine). In addition to being a striking sight in and of itself, this vantage point offers breathtaking views of the city below, Phewa Lake, and snow-capped mountains.
Spend some time exploring this incredibly serene stupa, then continue on little walking trails into the forest before rising back up to join an open Jeep trail that winds past the settlement of LukumSwara and around the hill. The final ascent of the day leads you to Bumdi village, which is populated by Gurung and Brahman people. You will spend the night in a local tea house and have the opportunity to discover more about the vibrant local culture while there. You can make arrangements for youngsters under four to be carried in a cozy porter’s basket even though the day’s hike is easy and suitable for the majority of families.
