Itinerary of Wild & Remote West Nepal – 6 Days

01
Day 1: Welcome to Kathmandu

You’ll get vistas of the valley, the Himalaya, and the terraced fields below as you soar into Kathmandu. After clearing customs, a representative will be there to welcome you outside the airport and help you navigate the initially disorienting tiny, winding streets of Kathmandu to your accommodation.

After you’ve settled in, go exploring in the city. The Kathmandu Durbar Square is an excellent site to start your trip because it is surrounded by tiny stores, historic temples, and neighborhood eateries. Swayambhunath, the white stupa standing above the valley, is the ideal location to watch the sun set over the valley if you want to get some exercise.

The evening is a nice time to eat, and Thamel, a popular tourist destination, offers a wide selection of eateries serving both Western and regional Nepali cuisine.

Day 2: Fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, Overnight at Karnali Lodge

You will be met by a Tiger Tops staffer at Nepalgunj Airport, given refreshments, and driven the about two-hour distance to Tiger Tops Karnali Lodge.

As you pass through villages, fields, and forests along the way, you’ll get a sense of life in the Terai. You will cross the Babai River close to the lodge, where Marsh Mugger Crocodiles might be basking in the midday sun.

We’ll be served a tasty Nepali lunch once we get at Karnali Lodge. Numerous items are organic and are daily selected from the lodge’s farm.

Go on a dusk jeep safari to the National Park in the afternoon to look for elusive tigers and leopards. Due to the fact that tigers hunt during the cool of the day, night is the ideal time to see the giant cats patrolling their territories. Two and a half hours will pass throughout the safari. An expert naturalist who is knowledgeable about the regional flora and animals of Bardia National Park will be with you at all times.

Drinks can be enjoyed by the outside fireplace before supper is served in the GholGhar (Nepalese dining room). The stocked bar is open until the last guest goes to bed, making it a great place for late-night conversations.

Day 3: Explore Bardia: In Search of the Royal Bengal Tiger

Before setting out on a full-day jeep safari in the forest in quest of the Tiger, get up early to the sounds of the plentiful wildlife and eat breakfast quickly. You will be led by an expert naturalist to several hides, lookouts, and locations with breathtaking views as they show you the wide variety of species found in Bardia National Park. While you wait for a glimpse of the coveted orange and black stripes, have a packed lunch. You can see the elephant and Gharial (the rarest crocodile in the world) breeding facilities at the National Park Headquarters before returning to your starting point.

Early in the evening, return to the lodge for a well-earned cool beer or hot shower, followed by a sumptuous dinner.

Day 4: Explore Bardia: Jungle & River Safari

You can choose from a number of activities to explore the Bardia jungle during your free time today.

Elephant or Jeep Safari in the wild

It is ideal to visit the jungle early in the morning when the morning mist is rising over the river and meadows and the wildlife is heading to the water to drink. You may also

explore the jungle by elephant or jeep safari. Birds sing and monkeys converse in the treetops. You might be fortunate enough to see an elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. You can go on a jungle walk after lunch for another chance to observe wildlife and get some fantastic pictures.

Early in the evening, return to the lodge for a well-earned cool beer or hot shower, followed by a sumptuous dinner.

Karnali River Safari and the Chisapani Bridge

Drive for one hour to reach the Chisapani Bridge, the first stop on your river safari and the biggest in Nepal. You’ll be able to see a variety of aquatic birds, crocodiles, and, if you’re lucky, the incredibly uncommon Gangetic dolphin as you float down the Karnaliriver. Watch the animals and monkeys grazing on the river bank as you leisurely float through little islands where the river divides. You will be picked up and driven to the lodge for a late lunch after your safari.

Discover the nearby villages

It’s a good idea to take a leisurely stroll through the nearby villages and paddy fields in the afternoon to meet the local farmers and learn more about the Tharu way of life.
