Overview of Manaslu Tsum Valley Circuit Trek
The Manaslu Tsum Valley Circuit Trek is a 24 day adventure through remote mountain villages, ancient Buddhist settlements, and the dramatic landscapes around Mount Manaslu. This adventure is a blend of the secret Tsum Valley and the entire Manaslu Circuit with its scenic and serene valleys, traditional settlements, sacred monasteries, and one of the renowned Himalayan passes of Nepal.
It starts with a beautiful drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola and then the Budhi Gandaki River which goes to the Manaslu region. The track gradually descends from the main track into the secluded Tsum Valley where life is still lived much as it has been for generations. Villages such as Chumling, Chekampar, and Nile welcome trekkers with warm hospitality, while ancient monasteries, mani walls, and colorful prayer flags reflect the valley’s deep Buddhist traditions. The visit to Mu Gompa and the nearby Tibetan border is an added highlight to the trip.
As we return to the Manaslu Circuit, the landscape shifts and we head back towards Namrung, Shyala and Sama Gaun. Rest days provide time to visit the Manaslu Base Camp, Birendra Lake and Pung Gyen Gompa before reaching even higher into Samdo. The final part of the trek takes you over the difficult Larkya La Pass which offers panoramic views of Manaslu, Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Annapurna II and numerous other snow-capped peaks before heading down to Dharapani.
