Overview of Yala Peak Climbing

Yala Peak Climbing is a 14 days adventure in the Langtang region of Nepal that offers a scenic trekking as well as an exciting Himalayan climbing experience. Rising to 5,500 meters, Yala Peak is ranked as one of the best entry level climbing peaks in Nepal and therefore suitable to the trekkers who may wish to explore mountaineering without the involvement of highly technical terrain. The trip moves through forests, traditional Tamang villages, alpine meadows, and glacial landscapes up to the summit.

The Yala Peak Climbing Package starts in Kathmandu then moves north to Syabrubesi, the entrance to Langtang National Park. Here we will walk through Lama Hotel, Langtang Village, and Kyanjin Gumba as we continue to ascend in altitude. An acclimatization hike to Kyanjin Ri is a special hike designed to acclimatize our body before we proceed to Yala Peak Base Camp.

Before the summit attempt, we will organize our climbing gear and receive practical climbing training from our experienced climbing team. After a gradual climb up the slopes of rocks and snow, summit day comes and the peak of Yala is reached. The summit provides expansive views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Gangchempo, Shishapangma and numerous other Himalayan peaks around.

When the climb is over, the trail passes back through the scenic Langtang Valley, which means that there is extra time to appreciate its mountainous landscape and the local culture. The Yala Peak Climbing Itinerary is gradual, which is conducive to adequate acclimatization but makes the experience enjoyable throughout the journey.

In Nepal Wanderlust Treks, our professional guides and climbing team take care of every stage of the expedition, including permits and transportation, accommodation and climbing support. Our Yala Peak Expedition is a safe, satisfying, and well managed climbing adventure regardless of you being a first time Himalayan summit, or a future attempt at higher mountains.

Essential Information - Yala Peak Climbing

Best Time for Yala Peak Climbing

The seasons that are most favorable to Yala Peak Climbing are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). The months tend to be stable in weather, good in the daytime, and the mountain scenery is clear, which provides good conditions in trekking and climbing. Spring brings colorful rhododendron blooms, while autumn is known for crisp skies and excellent visibility throughout the Langtang region.

Experienced climbers, who are ready to face cold weather conditions and infrequent snowfalls, can also complete the Yala Peak Climbing Package in winter. The rainy period from June to August is not ideal because rainfall can make the trails slippery and reduce mountain visibility. Selecting the appropriate season assists in enhancing safety and allows the climbing experience to be more enjoyable.

Yala Peak Climbing Difficulty

Yala Peak Climbing is considered a beginner friendly Himalayan climbing adventure. Although less technical than many other trekking peaks in Nepal, it still demands good physical fitness, stamina, and comfortably able to trek at high altitude.

The peak route involves rocky, snowy slopes and glaciers where simple climbing gear is employed. In the Yala Peak Expedition, we have professional climbing instructors who will train you on skills and safety measures required to reach the summit and help you gain confidence in climbing the mountain.

Accommodation & Meals

The Yala Peak Climbing Itinerary includes accommodation in comfortable local teahouses from Syabrubesi to Kyanjin Gumba. At Yala Peak Base Camp we stay in well equipped camping tents prepared by our support team for the summit climb.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included during the trekking and climbing days. Teahouses offer a range of Nepali, Tibetan and continental meals whereas freshly prepared food is provided at Base Camp. Healthy eating and hydration are important to maintain energy levels throughout the trip.

Transportation

The Yala Peak Climbing Package starts with a scenic drive between Kathmandu and Syabrubesi by private jeep or shared local jeep, depending on the package. We get back to Kathmandu after the expedition, by road through the same route.

The Nepal Wanderlust Treks includes all ground transportation to the trip. Once the trek begins, travel is entirely on foot through Langtang National Park until returning to Syabrubesi at the end of the journey.

Travel Insurance and Safety

Yala Peak Climbing requires travel insurance that must cover high altitude trekking and climbing, emergency helicopter evacuation, and medical care. Our climbing guides will observe the health and acclimatization of every member throughout the whole expedition before the attempt on the summit. Safety is our prime concern.

We have a detailed itinerary with a gradual ascent and our experienced team will change the timing if weather or trail conditions require. This makes the Yala Peak Expedition safer and more enjoyable for all climbers.
